Ada splits pair in Harrah

Harrah — Oshawv Frazier allowed just six hits over seven complete innings and Jake Boone hit a triple and a single and scored a pair of runs as Ada downed Cleveland, 5-2, Saturday in the Harrah Festival.

Host Harrah outlasted Ada in a later game, 9-7, Saturday as the Cougars finished the day with a 1-1 mark.

Game 1

Ada 5, Cleveland 2

Both Cleveland runs were unearned as Frazier gave up only two walks and struck out five.

The Cougars took a 2-0 first-inning advantage when Dalton Wolf drew a walk and stole second base. Wolf then advanced to third off Boone’s single.

Scott Johnson’s sacrifice fly to right field scored Wolf for the first run of the game and, with two outs, Micah Simmer tripled to make it 2-0.

Ada’s other three runs came in the third, when Boone tripled with one out and scored off Johnson’s run-scoring single. After a Walker Whitworth single, an error set the stage for two more Cougar scores for a 5-1 lead.

Johnson and Gabe Simons each went 1-for-2 from the plate. Johnson finished with two runs batted in and scored once. Simmer, Whitworth and Reid Kinder were each 1-for-3. Simmer knocked in one run and Whitworth scored once.

The Cougars held a 7-6 edge in total hits. Ada got the win despite four errors. Cleveland had one miscue.

Game 2

Harrah 9, Ada 7

Johnson and Boone each went 3-for-4 from the plate, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers came away with the two-run decision.

Johnson doubled once, drove home three runs and scored once, and Boone finished with one RBI and one run scored as the Cougars matched Harrah’s hit total at 12.

Also for Ada, Wolf went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a pair of runs scored. Simons was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
