NOTEWORTHY: Plainview (No. 10 in Class 4A) got a big day from Carter Bowker and held off Roff 12-7 Saturday at the Sulphur Festival. Bowker hit a home run and a double and finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs to pace a 14-hit Plainview attack. Rayce Stephens had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run to pace the Roff offense. The Tigers (No. 1 in Class A) aided Plainview by committing three errors.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We didn’t pitch it very goof. It seemed like we missed location all day We didn’t play sharp baseball,” — Roff head coach Ead Simon.

NOTEWORTHY: Dalton Reed tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out eight in five innings as Roff blanked host Sulphur (No. 20 in Class 3A). Andy Antonio had three of Roff’s eight hits and scored twice. Roff led just 3-0 before scoring six runs in the top of the fifth inning.

COACH’S QUOTE: “Dalton was in command from the start. We kind of broke that game open in the fifth,” — Roff head coach Ead Simon.

Team Records: Roff 18-5; Sulphur 9-8.
