No. 6 Latta wins district title on the road

     AMBER-POCASSET — The sixth-ranked Latta Panthers claimed a Class A District championship on Friday with a 12-2 run-rule win over host Amber-Pocasset 12-2.

On Thursday, Latta defeated Calumet 21-9 and Am-Po 12-0 to work into the district driver’s seat. Latta will move into the regional tournament on Thursday with an 18-7 record.

Brady Johnson went the distance and got the win on the mound, allowed just one hit in the five-inning affair.

Latta scored six runs in the first to jump out to the early lead. The Panthers had 11 hits in the contest and committed one error.
