Gabe Simons and Scott Johnson each homered while Reid Kinder allowed just two hits over four innings as the Ada Cougars pounded Purcell, 12-2, in four innings on Saturday in the consolation finals of the Jeff Davis Memorial Tournament in Pauls Valley.
Johnson had a solo blast in the second inning and Simons hit a two-run shot in the fourth for Ada, which compiled 12 hits and scored five runs each in the first and fourth innings.
Kinder allowed the two earned runs off one hit, including a solo homer in the first inning by Zack Edelman. He allowed just one walk and struck out one in going the distance.
Micah Simmer went 3-for-3 from the plate for the Cougars, including a pair of doubles, three runs batted in and three runs scored. Johnson was 2-for-2 with his homer, one RBI and three runs scored, and Kinder went 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored.
Simons finished the game 1-for-2 with his two-run homer and scored a pair of runs, and Walker Whitworth was 1-for-3 with two RBIs off a run-scoring double and an RBI groundout. He also scored one run.
Ada returns to action this weekend at the Ardmore/Lone Grove Showcase. The Cougars play Wynnewood Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Ardmore before batting Duncan at 3:30 p.m. in Lone Grove.
