Cardwell named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Second Team

Ada —

East Central University women’s golf senior Ashley Cardwell added another award to her career list as a member of the Lady Tigers team by being named to the 2012-13 CoSIDA Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Second Team.

The Mustang, Okla., native becomes just the second student-athlete from ECU to earn a spot on a CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.  In 2003 football senior Courtney Karner earned a spot on the second team.

Cardwell is one of 15 members on the Second Team that represent golf, tennis, swimming and field hockey teams and is the lone representative on the list from the Great American Conference.

Cardwell completed her bachelors in Math Education and a minor in Russian Studies at ECU in May and had a perfect 4.0 GPA.

In her final season on the links, Cardwell earned All-GAC Honorable Mention honors.  She played in 10-of-11 tournaments for the Lady Tigers and led the team with an 82.8 average.

Besides her time studying and on the golf course, Cardwell was the ECU Honors Student Association treasurer, an Honors Student Association peer mentor and Math Club secretary.
