EDMOND — East Central University’s Lady Tigers managed just six hits on the day as host Central Oklahoma swept a Lone Star Conference North doubleheader, 9-1 and 8-0, Saturday in a pair of run-rule shortened games at Broncho Field.

ECU dropped both ends of a twinbill at home to UCO (3-1 and 4-1) on Friday.

Saturday’s losses dropped the Lady Tigers to 2-17 overall and 0-12 in the LSC North while the Bronchos improved to 15-6 and 8-0.

Game 1

UCO 9, ECU 1

The Lady Tigers picked up their only run of the day in the third when Jessica Kohout scored after Jessica Loftis reached first on a fielder’s choice. The key hit of the inning was a double by Jayme Miller that advanced Kohout to third.

Broncho hurler Alli Blake (7-4) worked all five innings, allowing the one unearned run off three hits with only two walks and four strikeouts..

Cara Gaskins (2-8) suffered the loss after giving up all nine earned runs. She surrendered 10 hits, walked two and struck out three.

Melissa Stewart went 2-for-2 from the plate for ECU.

Angela Stratton, Emilee Bounds and Alley Roberts each homered for UCO. Bounds was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored. Roberts went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Game 2

UCO 8, ECU 0

Jordan Akin (2-1) fired the three-hit shutout as she allowed three walks and struck out five.

Kelli Dyson (0-4) suffered the loss after allowing the eight earned runs off 11 hits.

Dyson did go 2-for-2 from the plate for the Lady Tigers.

Stratton was 3-for-3 with a double, four RBI and two runs scored. Christin Dobbs, Lindsay Mitchell and Roberts followed with two hits apiece in the Bronchos’ 11-hit assault.

UCO broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the third and added three more in the fourth.

ECU’s next action is set for Tuesday at home against Southern Nazarene in a 2 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.
