East Central University men’s cross country coach Steve Sawyer has announced the signing of two student-athletes set to join the program this fall.

Brandon Hess, a freshman out of Fort Worth, Texas, and Will Baldwin, a transfer from Oklahoma Panhandle State, have signed to compete for the Tigers in 2011-12.

Hess, who ran for Boswell High School (Texas), has personal-best times of 16:28.30 in the 5,000 meters, 9:41 in the 3,200 and 4:33 in the 1,600.

“Brandon is an extremely fast and talented kid,” said Sawyer. “His times are among the fastest from a high school student ever signed here at ECU.”

Baldwin, a native of Tishomingo, was the No. 2 runner for OPSU last year as he owned a personal record of 27:39 in the 8,000 meters.

“Will is a 2010 graduate of Tishomingo High School were he earned many high school awards,” Sawyer said.
