NOTEWORTHY: The Longhorns simply couldn’t get enough hits to fall in during a loss to Fort Towson (No. 16 in Class A) Tuesday at Gibson Field. The game was knotted at 2-2 before the Tigers exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth to surge ahead. Pitchers Dakota McCollum and Marcus Sandy combined for 10 strikeouts. Jordan Curtis was the only Longhorn player with more than one hit, going 2-for-4. Brandon Elmore and Dakota Gore drove in runs for the locals.

NOTEWORTHY: Dalen Qualls allowed two hits and struck out 11 over four innings, and batterymate Nick Cosby drove in four runs with a pair of doubles to lead Stratford to the run-rule victory. Tyler Gaines tripled twice and drove in two runs while scoring three times for the Bulldogs, who got two hits apiece from Chase Bradstreet and a triple and two RBIs from Alix Vanlandingham.

NOTEWORTHY:  Reese Reynolds homered twice, and Stratford snapped a 6-6 tie with an 11-run fourth-inning outburst to post another run-rule victory over the host Tigers. Nick Cosby had three hits, including a homer, and drove in five runs, and Reynolds had two hits and three RBIs for Stratford, which had 26 hits in just eight innings in the twinbill. Randy Brown, Drake Kelly and Cody Paddon atted two hits apiece and combined for four RBIs in the win.

Brettney Brady and Cheyanne Miller both homered, and Breann Gipson had one of the Lady Longhorns’ four triples and also doubled twice. Cheyanne Miller added three hits and four RBIs, while Bradianne Daniel and Kim Helms drove in two runs apiece for Stonewall.

NOTEWORTHY: Tupelo (No. 5 in Class 2A) snapped a 4-4 tie with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to the surprising run-rule victory over 4A No. 5 Latta. Kaylie Sanders’ two-run single was the big blow in the fourth, and Aspen Collins’ two-run single capped a four-run rally in the sixth that ended the game. Sanders and Shanna Davidson had two hits and two RBIs apiece to key Tupelo’s 12-hit attack. Landra Nelson scattered 10 hits to earn her 16th win of the season.
