DIBBLE — Courtney Evans scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Stratford Lady Bulldogs to a 52-40 victory over the Fox Lady Foxes in a consolation game of the Big 8 Tournament at Dibble Wednesday night.

Stratford will play Maysville Friday at 6:30 p.m. while Fox (0-2) finishes the tournament with a pair of losses.

Jacourtney Hurley, who scored 26 points and grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds, kept the Lady Foxes in the game during the first half. However, a 13-0 Lady Bulldog run to start the second half turned a slim 18-16 halftime lead to 31-17 with 3:43 left in the third quarter. Evans scored seven points during the run for Stratford. Hurley answered for the Lady Foxes, scoring a conventional three-point play and a bucket as Fox pulled within 39-26 entering the final quarter.

Kourtney Harris scored two points and Alana Reaves scored a conventional three-point play of her own to get the lead back to 44-26 and remove any doubt about the outcome.

Harris finished with 12 points and nine rebounds for Stratford while Autumn Hurley dropped in nine points for the Lady Foxes.

Jacourtney Hurley virtually kept the Lady Foxes close in the early part of the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a low-scoring first half. Stratford’s Courtney Evans hit a pair of buckets and Noelle Hurt hit a layup early in the second quarter to push the Lady Bulldogs ahead 16-8. Lynsie Watkins hit a jumper and Hurley completed a conventional three-point play and added another basket off an offensive rebound to get Fox within 18-15 with 3:40 left in the first half. Autumn Hurley hit one of two free throws at the 3:20 mark to get the Lady Foxes within two at 18-16, but neither team would score again in the first half.
