Latta to host Saturday free throw contest

ADA — Latta High School will host the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Region 6 free throw shooting contest Saturday morning, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Bill Johnson Field House.

Any school in Region 6 can send two players to the competition, which be held under a tournament format with players taking 20 free throws to be seeded and shooting 25 free throws in each round of the double elimination event. The winner will receive a plaque and move on to the state championship at the Tournament of Champions in Tulsa on Thursday, Dec. 27.

“It’s the first time we’ve done it this way in a long time,” said Latta boys basketball coach Donnie Husband. “I think this way we can get more kids involved. Hopefully, everybody around here will bring two kids.”
