Hightower solid for

Byng track team

LONE GROVE — Zoraya Hightower got a pair of medals to pace the Byng High School track team at the Lone Grove Invitational last Friday.

Hightower placed second in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:34.1 and third in the 1600 Meter Run in 5:58.3.

In other girls action, Brooke Harris was second in the High Jump with a leap of four-feet, eight-inches. Hightower also teamed with Miranda Claxton, Jalena Walker and Dawnelle Scott to place fourth in the 3200 Meter Relay in 11:06.2.

In boys’ action, Justin Grimes was fourth (11:25.7) in the 3200 Meter Run and Scotty Brasher was fourth in the 1600 Meter Run (5:02.4).

The 3200 Meter Relay unit of Brasher, Grimes, Josh Howard and Brad Cochran placed sixth in 9:24.

Coach Clint McGaha’s troops are back in action March 21 at 2 p.m. at a track meet in Konawa.

HOMER — Coaches involved in Homer T-ball are seeking players to fill rosters.

Russell starts off

spring with an ace

ADA — Don Russell of Roff, a regular at the Eccentric Duffer Golf Course, started his spring season off on the right foot by acing the No. 9 hole at the course March 12.

With the high winds, all he needed was a Pitching Wedge to accomplish the feat that was witnessed by his wife, Leslie, and their son, James.

The Eccentric Duffer golf course and range is located approximately one mile west of the Holcim Cement plant smokestack on County Road 1550 (formerly Reeves Road).



Phi Tau Golf event

scheduled for April 15

ADA — The 10th annual Phi Tau Golf Scramble is scheduled for Saturday, April 15 at the Eccentric Duffer Golf Course.

The tournament will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the course, located on Reeves Road in Ada.

Entry fee is $50 per team. Prizes are as follows: $200 for first place, $100 fro second place and $50 for third place.
