Softball umpires clinic

scheduled for Saturday

ADA — There is an ASA Umpires Clinic Saturday, March 4 at the Pontotoc Technology Center.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the clinic starts promptly at 9 a.m.

All officials interested in calling ASA softball whicch includes games at the Matthews Park Softball Complex, must attend a clinic.

Other dates and locations for clinics include: March 11, at Muskogee; March 12, at Miami; March 18, at Norman; March 25, at Enid; April 1, at Duncan; and April 2, at Lawton.

Roff plans alumni

basketball games

ROFF — The Roff High School Athletic Department will host men and women’s alumni basketball games on Monday, March 6, with the women’s game due to begin at 7 p.m. and the men’s game to start immediately afterward.

Odd-year graduates will play even-year graduates, and cost is $20 per person. Admission to the event is free, and concessions will be available.

Participants will receive T-shirts, and plaques will be given to the oldest players, players traveling the furthest and winners of 3-point shooting contests for both men and women.

Softball coaches meeting

scheduled for March 16

ADA — The city of Ada will hold a coaches’ meeting for summer softball leagues at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak.

Leagues will be for ages 8-and-under, 10-and-under, 12-and-under and 14-and-under, in addition to co-ed and men’s slowpitch leagues.

ADA — The city of Ada is accepting entries for the spring volleyball leagues — co-ed and power and co-ed recreational.

Entry fee is $45 and the deadline is March 2.

Ada Baseball Boosters auction/dinner March 4

ADA — The Ada High School Baseball Booster club will host its annual Italian dinner and auction Saturday, March 4 at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Atrium Family Center, 521 S. Broadway.

Silent auction viewing begins at 5:30 p.m. with the supper to be served at 6 p.m. The auction will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $5 per person with children under six admitted free.

The dinner, provided by Papa’s Pizzeria, will include spaghetti, fettuccini, lasagna, bread and salad.

Ada Youth Baseball

seeking 2006 players

ADA — The Ada Youth Baseball League for 13- and 14-year-olds is gearing up for its 2006 season.

To be eligible for the league, players must not be 15 before May 1, 2006. All athletes who wish to play may sign up by using forms published in The Ada Evening News or the form available at the Ada Junior High School.

Entry fee is $50 per player.

The Ada Youth Baseball Board of Directors seeking parents of 13-year-olds who wish to take an active role in the administration of the league.

Eccentric Duffer announces

2006 winter schedule

ADA — The Eccentric Duffer golf course and range announces the winter schedule for both the course and range. 

The course and range are open daily (weather permitting) from 8 a.m. until dark. Tee time for the Men's Scramble on Tuesday mornings is 9 a.m. 

The course is located approximately one mile west of the Holcim Cement Plant Smokestack on County Road 1550 (formerly Reeves Rd.), Ada.
