The training room in the Ada Cougar Activity Center fieldhouse will be named the Steven Ball Training Room in honor of Steven Ball, son of Kennett and Georgia Ball. Steven Ball graduated from Ada High in 1966 after playing on the 1965 state championship football team. He died in 2003 after a long battle with cancer. Kennett Ball has donated countless hours to the students of Ada City Schools as a volunteer physical therapist. A plaque bearing Steven’s name and recognizing the effort’s of Kennett will hang outside the room. Duffer sponsoring

adult golf clinic

ADA — The Eccentric Duffer golf course is sponsoring a clinic for adults interested in learning to play golf or in improving their golf skills Saturday, April 29 from 8 a.m. until noon. 

Cost for the four-hour instruction is $50 per person and a $25 deposit must be made at the course no later than April 22.

The course is located approximately one mile west of the Holcim Cement Smokestack on County Road 1550 (formerly Reeves Rd).



Hershey’s Track Meet

scheduled for April 22

ADA — The City of Ada Recreation Department will host the local meet of the Hershey’s National Track and Field Youth Program Saturday, April 22 at the Ada High School Track.

All children born from 1992 to 1997 are eligible to register. There is no entry fee or special equipment needed.

Registration forms can be picked up and filled out in office No. 1 at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak.

All participants need to pre-register for the track meet by 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 18. A copy of the athlete’s birth certificate must accompany the entry form.

Lady Cougar Camp

planned May 23-26

ADA — The 2006 Ada Lady Cougar Basketball Camp is scheduled for May 23-26 at the Cougar Activity Center.

The camp, open to players entering grades 1-9, runs from 9 a.m. to noon daily. Cost is $40 per camper.



Pickett Fire Department

plans golf tournament

ADA — The Eccentric Duffer golf course and range is hosting the Second Annual Pickett Volunteer Fire Department two-person golf scramble on May 6.

Tee time is set for 8 a.m.

First place pays $150; second place pays $100 and third place pays $50. 

There will also be prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin contests and numerous door prizes.

The Eccentric Duffer is located approximate one mile west of the Holcim Cement smokestack on County Road 1550 (formerly Reeves Road).
