WEATHERFORD — East Central University's softball team dropped both ends of a Lone Star Conference North doubleheader, 2-0 and 4-1, to host Southwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday at SWOSU Park.

The losses dropped ECU to 2-15 overall and 0-8 in the LSC North while SWOSU improved to 6-19 and 4-4.

The Lady Tigers lost both ends of a doubleheader, 5-0 and 8-3, to the Bulldogs on Monday in Ada.

Game 1


Lacie Keplinger's two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth broke the scoreless tie.

Bulldog hurler Alex Zuckerman (2-8) pitched all seven innings in picking up the shutout win. Zukerman allowed just one walk and struck out seven.

Cara Gaskins (2-6) suffered the loss, despite giving up the two earned runs off only three hits with no walks and 12 strikeouts.

Jayme Miller and Stephanie Larriba each went 2-for-3 from the plate for the Lady Tigers. Miller also doubled once.

However, ECU stranded seven base runners compared to SWOSU's three.

Game 2


Ashton Garrett (2-5) scattered seven hits while giving up the one earned run for the victory. Garrett struck out four and allowed no walks.

Amanda Boyse (0-3) took the loss for the Lady Tigers as she gave up three earned runs off seven hits with one strikeout in 3 2/3 innings of work. Gaskins threw 2 1/3 innings and allowed one earned run off three hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts.

ECU's only run of the day came on an RBI single by Boyse in the first inning as Jill Tompkins crossed the plate.

Boyse and Miller each went 2-for-3 from the plate for the Lady Tigers.

Keri Glidewell was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to fuel the Bulldog offense while Sarah Hamilton went 2-for-3 with a solo-homer. Keplinger also went 2-for-3 with a run-scoring single.

The next action for ECU will be Tuesday at the University of Central Oklahoma for a 2 p.m. LSC North doubleheader.
