The Ada Lady Cougars couldn’t make a 4-0 lead stand up in a heart-breaking 5-4 nine-inning loss to Seminole on the road Tuesday evening.

With the game tied at 4-all, the international tie-breaker rule was in effect entering the ninth inning.

Ada started the top of the ninth with Brooklyn Cupps on second. Morganne Freeman led off with an infield hit and the Lady Cougars loaded the bases when Natalie Keel reached first safely on a sacrifice bunt.

But Seminole got two straight force outs and home plate before Alexis Walker flied out to right field to keep Ada off the scoreboard.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Lady Chieftains wasted little time in scoring the winning run. Madi Withrow started the game on second and promptly scored on an RBI single by Ryan Mitchell.

Ada scored a pair runs in the top of the first. Elizabeth Redman reached on an error and Brittney Lee followed with an RBI triple. Lee would scurry home on a throwing error during the play to put Ada on top 2-0.

An RBI single by Stevona Gilbert and a bases-loaded walk by Cupps pushed the Ada lead to 4-0 in the top of the third.

Seminole out-hit Ada 12-5 with Mitchel going 3-for-4 to lead the way. Freeman and Lee both had two hits to pace the Lady Cougars.

Ada, now 5-11, hosts Marietta and Holdenville in a Festival Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
