DURANT – East Central’s 3-2 loss to arch-rival Southeastern Oklahoma State epitomized the Tigers’ baseball season on Sunday at the Ballpark in Durant.

ECU out-hit SOSU 8-3, but stranded 10 baserunners and committed four errors in falling to 8-29 overall and 1-9 in the LSC North. SOSU improved to 18-19 and 7-3.

The Savage Storm swept the three-game series from the Tigers after claiming 8-7 and 14-4 victories on Saturday.

SOSU scored twice in the first inning before ECU rallied with a pair of runs in the fifth.

But the Savage Storm came away with the win as Chase Langley drew a lead-off walk and scored when Erik Hughes doubled and scored off a Tiger error to end the 2:40 contest.

The hard-luck loser for ECU was senior right-hander Chad Workman (1-6), who went the 8 1/3 inning distance while allowing just one earned run off three hits with only one walk and 10 strikeouts.

SOSU’s Jordan Semore picked up the win in relief of starter Travis Bell. Semore gave up just one hit and one walk while striking out three in the final 4 2/3 innings.

Mason Parham hit his 11th homer of the season for the Savage Storm.

Leading the Tiger offensive effort were Clay Mack and Cody Carrier. Mack went 2-for-3 from the plate while Carrier was 2-for-4. Jay Neal and Jason Wellington each knocked in a run.

ECU returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State University in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
