NOTEWORTHY: Laura Peterson had a two-run single to key a three-run sixth inning and an RBI double in a four-run seventh as Roff — ranked No. 3 in Class 2A — scored late to beat Stonewall. Jenny Davis followed Peterson’s hit in the sixth with a run-scoring single, and Kayla Balthrop’s double ignited the big seventh-inning rally capped by Peterson’s two-bagger. Jamie Fowler also had a two-run single in the inning for Roff. Skylar Logan scattered seven hits for her seventh win of the season.

NOTEWORTHY: Katie Bailey had a two-run single, and Kayla Balthrop stroked a run-scoring double in a five-run third inning that carried Roff — No. 3 in Class 2A — to the Game 2 victory and the sweep. Tess Truett and Jamie Fowler also had RBI singles in the big third inning, which made a winner of freshman Sam Hays.

NOTEWORTHY: Byng — which managed just two hits in the first game of the doubleheader — blew an early 4-1 lead, went on top, 8-7, in the top of the seventh, but fell victim to a two-run Moss rally in the bottom of the inning and lost for the sixth time in seven games. Logan Needham had a triple, double and single, Megan Pregler had a triple, and Kayla Johnson drove in two runs in the loss.

NOTEWORTHY: Kendra Pearce singled home Heather Martin with an unearned run in the eighth inning as Tupelo — ranked No. 4 in Class A — edged Class 3A No. 1 Wayne. Martin reached on an error with two outs, moved to third on a single by Brittanie Williams and scored on Pearce’s single to left-center. Tupelo took a 2-0 first-inning lead on a double by Katie Campbell and a long homer to right-center by winning pitcher Katelyn Roberts (15-2), and Wayne tied the score with single runs in the second and third.

NOTEWORTHY: Katelyn Roberts capped a huge day by tossing a one-hitter over three innings and banging out three hits as Tupelo posted the run-rule victory. Roberts, who was 5-for-6 in the Lady Tigers’ two games, had two doubles and two RBIs and a run scored against Vanoss to pace a 13-hit attack. Kendra Pearce also had a double and two RBIs and Katie Campbell added two hits and two RBIs in the win.

Autumn Lawrence had two hits and drove in six runs for the Lady Panthers, and Chelsey Bennett, Charissa Smith, Tosha MacCollister and Courtney Bottoms combined to go 10-for-11 and drive in 6 runs in the win.
