NOTEWORTHY: Dalen Qualls scored 34 points and just missed a triple-double, and Matthew Knight had 32 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots to lead Stratford (No. 6 in Class 2A) to the easy opening-round victory. Qualls had 10 rebounds and nine assists in less than three quarters of action for the Bulldogs, who played without several players who will join the team after Saturday’s Class A state championship football game. Michael Judd scored 11 points, and Cody Purgason added 10 points and five steals in the win.
