Former Roff and Tupelo star Brendan McCurry and his summer team, the Elk City-based Oklahoma Travelers, just keep rolling along.
McCurry went 12-for-22 with five home runs, 15 RBIs, a double, a triple and nine runs scored as the Travelers went 7-0 and earned the championship trophy at Wichita State University last weekend. In addition to his big week at the plate, McCurry was 2-0 on the mound with a save in three appearances and struck out 15 batters in 8.2 innings.
The previous week, McCurry was 13-for-22 with eight doubles, nine RBIs and nine runs scored to help the Travelers to another 7-0 performance and first place in the Southlwest Select Championships in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was also 1-0 on the mound with a save and 12 strikeouts while surrendering just four hits in 8.1 innings.
McCurry and the 36-3 travelers are in Indianapolis for the Finish Line National Championship tournament, which opened Wednesday.
