Ada’s Jamie Copeland captured first-place titles at the Lawton MacArthur Open, Marlow Open, Ted Anderson Classic in Edmond and in the Lawton Ike Open, where he double entered — placing first in his weight and in a higher weight class. He also wrestled at the U.S. Junior Open, where he defeated state and national champions. However, he lost by only two points in the semifinals and fell short in the consolations by three points. Copeland ended up fourth in the national event.

Later, he got back on track, winning the Mustang Open championship, which clinched the title of the Oklahoma Series. Upcoming events are at Ardmore, Tuttle and the Oklahoma Junior High State, Oklahoma Regionals and Oklahoma State championships. Copeland’s record is 26-2 this season. He’s a sixth-grader at Willard Grade Center and is coached by Terry Copeland.
