The East Central University women’s golf team placed seventh as senior Whitney McDaniel tied for 18th individually as play wrapped up in the two-day, two-round Drury Lady Panther Spring Shootout on Sunday at the par-72 Rivercut Golf Course.
McDaniel, on the strength of four birdies, finished at 20-over for the tournament after posting back-to-back rounds of 79-85.
Teammate Carol Blanton ended up at 25-over for the two rounds after registering scores of 80-89. The Lady Tigers’ Ilissa Jaggers took 29th at 26-over after consecutive scores of 84-86.
Emily Wharton had 14 pars in the two rounds and tied for 44th place at 32-over with rounds of 85-91 and Molly Saunders tied for 72nd at 48-over with scores of 95 and 97.
William Woods University claimed the team title with a score of 642, which was only one shot better than second-place Nebraska-Omaha and host Drury, which both posted a 643 score.
Midwestern State was fourth at 654, followed by Harding (675), Southern Indiana (676), ECU (679), Arkansas Tech (684), Maryville (687), Truman State (688), Fort Hays State (707), Henderson State (714) and Quincy (736).
Drury’s Katrina Choate captured medalist honors at 11-over after posting scores of 79-76. She edged out Midwestern State’s Kendra Whittley by one stroke as Whittley registered scores of 75-81.
