NOTEWORTHY: Sophomores Chesna Henry and Grace Leland were both in double figures to pace a balanced attack, and Tupelo rolled to the surprisingly easy victory over a Vanoss team the Lady Tigers beat by just five points in last week’s semifinals of the Pontotoc Conference Tournament. Henry had 18 points, a team-high seven rebounds and two steals, and Leland had 13 points for Tupelo, which hit hit 20 of its 31 field goals attempts and also got eight points and seven steals from senior Josie Soukup and eight points, six rebounds and three steals from sophomore Shanna Davidson. Logan Anderson and Stefani Burk combined for 31 of the Lady Wolves’ 37 points.

NOTEWORTHY: Stonewall turned in a dazzling first-half defensive performance, limiting the Lady Tigers to just 11 points by intermission. Tyla Transue had a strong game for Stonewall with 17 points while sophomore Brettney Brady had a solid all-around game with nine points, eight rebounds, two steals, four assists and just one turnover. Sophomore Tana Middleton led Wanette with 15 points.
