EDMOND — The East Central University women’s tennis team rolled to a 7-2 victory over host Central Oklahoma, while the ECU men fell to the host Bronchos 9-0 in Lone Star Conference action on Tuesday.

In the women’s dual, ECU’s only losses came at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles.

At No. 1 singles, the Lady Tigers’ Dasha Segenchuk, ranked 27th in the nation, knocked off UCO’s Julie Vo, 6-3, 6-1; while ECU’s No. 2 singles entry, Karlien Lotter, posted a 6-0 first-set victory before winning by injury default.

ECU’s Ana Fernandez, competing at No. 3 singles, was a 6-2, 6-2 victor over Amy Cabato. Jessica Lobnitz, at No. 5 singles, was a 7-6, 6-1 winner over Sky Nelson and Amanda Rhynes claimed a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Katie Eacret at No. 6.

Nelson and Rhynes are both graduates of Ada High School.

The Lady Tigers’ Katrina Cousins dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Dominika Kovacikova at No. 4 singles.

In doubles play, Lotter and Fernandez combined for an 8-1 victory over Vo and Titkina at No. 1 doubles while Segenchuk and Lobnitz were 8-6 winners over Kovacikova and Cabato at No. 2 doubles. UCO’s Nelson and Eacret topped Cousins and Rhynes at No. 3 doubles.

Segenchuk is a perfect 15-0 in singles play and 15-0 in doubles competition this spring.

In men’s play, the Bronchos took all six singles matches and all three doubles.

UCO’s Tomas Hladill downed Quynh Tran at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-4. Jonas Askeland was a 6-3, 6-3 victor over ECU’s Josue Paz at No. 2 singles and UCO’s Mark Johnson claimed a 6-2, 7-5 win over Chris Kriel at No. 3.

At No. 4 singles, Javier Easton earned a 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 hard-fought decision overt ECU’s Victor Rios and UCO’s Christian Haugen was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Felipe Lopez at No. 5. Peter Davis, also of UCO, downed Matt Folsom, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

The doubles scores were as follows: Hladil-Askeland (UCO) over Tran-Paz, 8-4; Easton-Davis (UCO) over Kriel-Rios, 8-2; and Haugen-Johnson over Folsom-Lopez, 8-2.
