ADA — Adriana Aragon’s goal off a Lativa Harasha assist, less than two minutes into the first overtime period, lifted New Mexico Highlands to a 3-2 victory over East Central University in a women’s college soccer match Friday at Lady Tiger Field.

NMHU, which improved to 1-8-1, tied the game at 2-2 in the 58th minute of regulation when Melissa Aragon scored off a Joni Yoon feed after a corner kick.

Freshman Candace Baird scored both ECU goals, the first off a Shannon McKim pass from the left wing, in the 12th minute and the second came by virtue of a Kayla Woolery feed in the 35th minute to give the Lady Tigers a 2-1 halftime advantage.

Nikki Garcia had tied the game at 1-1 in the 23rd minute with a goal off a Vernonica Padilla assist.

The visitors out-shot the Lady Tigers 16-8 and had an 11-5 edge in shots on goal.

Kelly Davis was credited with six saves for ECU, which fell to 2-8-1.

The next action for the Lady Tigers will be today at noon against Colorado State-Pueblo in a game to be played in Weatherford. Host Southwestern Oklahoma State will face New Mexico Highlands in the following contest at 2 p.m.
