East Central University men’s basketball coach Ja Havens has announced the addition of one more student-athlete for the 2018-19 season.

The Tigers have signed Jerritt Dixon to go with with Joshua Apple (sophomore, London, England) and Matthew Garriga (Murphy, Texas), who signed during the early signing period.

Dixon is a 6-2 guard from Allen, Texas. He helpd the Allen Eagles to the 6A state championship in the 2017-18 season. He surpassed the 1,000 career point total in his senior season while averaging 12 points, three rebounds and three assists per game.

“We are very excited with the addition of Jerritt Dixon to our program,” Havens stated. “First and foremost, Jerritt is a winner. He comes to us from a tremendous program at Allen High School, and he has been coached by one of the best in Jeff McCullough.”

The guard also earned several accolades on and off the court. Dixon was an all-district (twice), all-region, all-state, and all-state tournament team selection, as well as a three-time all-district academic team member.

“Jerritt is a versatile scorer, an efficient 3-point shooter, and a great passer with the ability to make his teammates better,” Havens added. “He’s a fierce competitor on both ends of the floor and can defend multiple positions. We think Jerritt is a great fit for the Tiger family, both on and off the floor, and we look forward to seeing him in orange and black next season.”

Jeff Cali has been covering sports in the Ada area since the mid-90s. He graduated from Byng High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from East Central University.
