SHAWNEE — The East Central University men’s tennis team, ranked 39th in the nation in NCAA Division II, rolled to a pair of dual victories over Oklahoma Baptist, 7-2, and Oklahoma Wesleyan, 8-1, Saturday at the OBU courts.

ECU swept all six singles matches and took one of the three doubles matches in beating host OBU.

The Tigers’ only doubles victory was an 8-6 triumph by Josue Paz and Quynh Tran over Erick Scroggins and Jared Haley, 8-6 at No. 1 Doubles.

In singles play, Paz upended Haley 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1, while Tran was a 6-7, 7-5 (10-5) victor over Peter McCorkle at No. 2.

At No. 3 Singles, ECU’s Chris Kriel was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Tyson Allard and Felipe Lopez claimed a 6-4, 5-7 (10-8) triumph over Jordan Wacker.

Matt Folsom, competing at No. 5 Singles for the Tigers, earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Andrew Sharp and John Sedlak, playing at No. 6 Singles, posted a 6-2, 7-5 winner over Ryan Weber.

In doubles play, ECU’s Kriel and Victor Rios dropped a close 9-8 decision to Allard and McCorkle at No. 2, while Folsom and Lopez were on the short end of an 8-4 score to Sharp and Wacker at No. 3.

Against Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Tigers swept all three doubles matches and won five of the six singles events.

ECU’s only loss came at No. 1 Singles as Paz fell to Bruno Seves by a 6-4, 6-0 count.

At No. 2 Singles, Tran knocked off Ben Schmitt, 6-0, 6-1, while Kriel was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Ryan Kosmicki at No. 3.

Lopez claimed a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Jim Raybuck at No. 4 Singles and Folsom was a 6-0, 6-2 victor over Trey Terrell at No. 5. Sedlak beat Dan Sitton 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.

In doubles competition, Tran and Paz defeated Schmitt and Seves 8-2 at No. 1. Folsom and Lopez were 8-1 winners over Kosmicki and Rabuck at No. 2. Kriel and Sedlak downed Terrell and Sitton at No. 3.

The ECU men will play at the University of Oklahoma on Monday at 1 p.m.
