The all-region teams are sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems, and were voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bryant, a 6-foot, 6-inch, 245-pound sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, was third in the nation in NCAA Division II in quarterback sacks at 13.5 for an average of 1.23 per game, which also topped the Lone Star Conference. He was also tied with two others for ninth in the nation in tackles for loss with 19.

Bryant, who was chosen as LSC North Defensive Lineman of the Year, was twice named LSC North Defensive Player of the Week and picked up one special teams award during the 2010 season in which the Tigers snared a share of the LSC North championship.

He also scored two touchdowns off an interception and a fumble recovery with a return. Bryant finished the season with two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, four quarterback hurries and four blocked kicks.

Smith, a 6-1, 180 junior out of Deland, Fla., led the LSC in interceptions with six and was tied with 10 others for 11th place in NCAA Division II. He was also twice named LSC North Defensive Player of the Week during the 2010 campaign.

Smith was third on the ECU squad in total tackles with 57 (42 solo) with five stops for lost yardage, six pass breakups and a fumble recovery. Two of his interceptions were returned for touchdowns this past season.

Because of their first team all-region awards, Bryant and Smith will be placed on the All-American ballots in which those teams will be announced in the near future.

Savala, a 6-6, 315 junior from Fontana, Calif., earned a Daktronics All-Super Region 4 SAecond Team award after recently being named LSC North Offensive Lineman of the Year.
