ABILENE, Texas — The 2006 season came to an end for the East Central University women’s tennis team as it dropped a 5-0 decision to sixth-ranked and host Abilene Christian University Thursday in the NCAA Division II Central Regional at the Eager Tennis Center at ACU.

The Wildcats picked up three points with doubles victories, one of which was by default.

ACU’s Holly Lindloff and Lana Pavlin beat Karlien Lotter and Ana Fernandez, 8-6. Irene Squillaci and Meagan Brown, also of ACU, defeated Dasha Segenchuk and Jessica Lobnitz 8-5.

The Wildcats’ Sarah Drummond and Elizabetk Korinek won by default.

In singles play, Korinek was credited with a default victory while Sarah Drummond knocked off Amanda Rhynes, 6-0, 6-0 for the fifth and deciding point.

No other matches were played.

ACU improved to 29-6 with the dual win while ECU concluded its season at 12-10. The Wildcats were scheduled to face Midwestern State for the regional title on Friday with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division II national tournament. ACU was seeking its 11th straight trip to nationals.
