East Central's Branch nabs Great American Conference weekly honor

ECU Sports Information graphicEast Central senior Devon Branch has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week after scoring a combined 50 points in two road wins last week.

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — East Central University women’s basketball senior Devon Branch earned her first Great American Conference Player of the Week honor the league office announced Monday.

The Boerne, Texas, native helped the Tigers to a 2-0 record last week with road wins at Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello in GAC action.

Branch averaged 25.0 points and 10.0 rebounds for the games, while shooting 42.4 percent (14-of-33) from the floor, 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from 3-point range and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the charity stripe.

In the win at UAM, Branch tallied career highs with 25 points and two blocks, while also setting a new career high with nine free throws at SAU.

ECU will have the week off for finals before hosting Rogers State at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Kerr Activities Center.
