New, old Stonewall coach

Development will be a key component for the Stonewall Lady Longhorns during the 2012-2013 basketball season.

Last season, Stonewall rolled to a 25-5 record and into the quarterfinals of the Class A state tournament, before falling to eventual state runner-up Okarche.

But gone from that state tournament run for the Lady Longhorns is head coach Christie Jennings, who is now at Ada High School, and three starters, including one of last year’s leading scorers, Lacy Walker.

Not all should be doom and gloom for Stonewall, which has elevated Brian Davis from assistant to head coach and return a trio of senior starters in 5-foot, 10-inch post performer Breann Gipson, 5-5 guard Kim Helms and 5-7 forward Haley Snell.
