All-Star Classic Meeting

set for Wednesday

ADA — Area basketball coaches are encouraged to attend a meeting to be held Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. at Delicias Mexican Restaurant (620 S. Mississippi) in Ada to vote on rosters for the 37th annual Ada Evening News All-Star Classic.

The All-Star Classic has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 12 inside Byng’s Bill Koller Field House. The girls contest will tip off at 6:30 p.m. with the boys game to follow at 8 p.m.

Only senior varsity players are eligible to play in the All-Star Classic.

Local Hershey's Track Meet

scheduled April 24 at Ada High

ADA — The City of Ada Recreation Department will be hosting a local meet of The Hershey’s National Track and Field Youth Program Saturday, April 24 at The Ada High School Track.

All children born in 1996 through 2001 are eligible to register.  There is no entry fee or special equipment needed.

Registration Forms can be picked up and filled out at The Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, office No. 1.

All Participants need to pre-register by 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. A copy of a birth certificate must accompany the entry form in order for youth to compete.

Softball tournament slated

May 7-8 in Konawa

KONAWA — A double-elimination, fast-pitch softball tournament will take place May 7-8 at the Konawa High School softball field.

Entry fee is $100, and the tournament is open to teams ages 10- and 12-and-younger.

All proceeds will benefit the Konawa Lady Tigers fast-pitch softball program.

Ada Legion Post 72 Braves

tryouts set April 25

ADA — The Ada Legion Post 72 Braves will be hosting tryouts for their 2010 squad on Sunday, April 25, at East Central University.

Coach Travis Graham said all players born after Jan. 1, 1991 are invited to the tryout, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

“We have quite a few spots to fill,” said Graham, whose first two Braves squads reached the Legion state tournament and whose 2009 team was state runner-up. “We were pretty set last year, but we lost a lot of talented players, so we’re looking to reload.”
