The City of Ada Recreation Department is forming a 3-on-3 basketball league for adults this winter.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, December 29. League games will be played on Mondays, and the season begins January 10. Each team’s roster must be limited to five players. Entry fee is $50 per team.

Jingle Bell Jam scheduled for Dec. 20

ADA — The Ada Lady Cougars are hosting a “Jingle Ball Jam”, winter basketball clinic for girls in grades kindergarten through fourth grade Monday, Dec. 20 inside the Cougar Activity Center.

The clinic runs from 8 a.m. to noon and will feature special guest speaker La'Neishea Caufield-Daniels, an All-American member of the 2002 National runner-up Oklahoma Sooners basketball team and former Lady Cougar. 

Cost is $25 per student which includes T-shirt and snacks. Campers will gain free admission to Ada High’s basketball doubleheader against Ardmore on Jan. 11 by wearing their camp T-shirt.

Ada roper wins at Tulsa event

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – A local roper was a big winner during the recent United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) Oil Capital Stampede Championships held December 3-5 at the Tulsa Expo Fairgrounds in Tulsa.

Shane L Hoodenpyle of Ada was the winner in the No. 13 Handicap, defeating 88 other teams in a time of 37.88 on 5 steers, sharing $3,890 of the $10,240 purse along with custom trophy halters with partner Brock W Jones of Tupelo.

Offering more than $120,604 in prize money and over $20,000 in prizes, the Oil Capital Stampede Championships hosted more than 1,090 teams from 13 states. The USTRC approves more than 85 team roping events across the United States, attracting ropers from bordering Mexico and Canada, as well as other countries.
