ADA — The Ada ninth grade football team used a ball control offense to milk the final 3:57 off the clock and preserve an exciting 20-12 win over Noble Tuesday night at the Craig McBroom Football Complex.

The Ada freshmen improved to 5-2 on the year with the win in the ninth grade/junior varsity doubleheader.

The final Ada Junior High football games of the year is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 26, versus Ardmore at the Craig McBroom Sports Complex. The Ada seventh grade will begin at 4 p.m.

Ada 20, Noble 12

The young Cougars took their opening drive and consumed 3:58 off the clock before Jesse Cashman capped off the march with a 4-yard touchdown run to put Ada on top 6-0.

Ada scored early in the second on a tough 4-yard run by fullback Geoff Irvin to push its lead to 12-0.

The Bears got on the board just before halftime to trim Ada’s lead to 12-6.

Quarterback Tyler Mills gave Ada some breathing room with his 2-yard keeper and he then converted on the two-point try to make it 20-6.

After Noble’s final touchdown, Ada was able to run out the clock and preserve the victory.

The Cougar offense totaled 192 yards. Cashman and Mills were the offensive leaders, gaining 67 and 66 yards, respectively.

Ada’s youngsters got good blocking from Irvin and linemen Preston Dye, Cameron Gillispie, Clay Hooton, Dean Doolan, Kolton Howry, Montana Anderson and Josh Nail.

Cashman had two fumble recoveries on defense while Connor Mayhue had his second interception of the year. Will Robson, Jacob Vogt and Anderson also played well on defense for Ada.
