NOTEWORTHY: The Lady Cougars went from playing in horrible conditions on Friday in Perkins to competing in near perfect conditions Monday at the Lake Hefner Golf Tournament. Ada shot a 434, led by freshman rookie Olivia Pruitt who carded a season-best 99. Tuttle won the tournament with a team scsore of 359 while Poteau was next at 365. Sarah Delong of Elgin won the medalist crown in a scorecard playoff against Hannah Ward of Poteau after both golfers shot identical 81s. The Hefner South Golf Course is the site of the 2011 Class 4A State Tournament.

COACHES QUOTES: “Conditions were very good today, and the course conditions gave us an opportunity to improve our team score. The girls are improving each day and every tournament and that is directly because of their hard work in practice. It is amazing how much progress has been made by the girls that returned from last year’s first ever golf team to where we are today. Alanah, Charlsey, Mechel  and Alisah have been great leaders for the three new freshmen on this year’s team. All the girls have improved, and Olivia has caught on to this game as quickly as anyone I have coached in nine years with girl’s golf.”

“We will work extra hard this week preparing for Regionals next Tuesday in Seminole. It will require us to shoot our best score of the season and some luck to advance to the State Tournament. But I know the girls are excited about the challenge,” — Ada head coach Ron Anderson.

Up Next: Ada at Class 4A Regional in Seminole Tuesday, April 26.
