BLANCHARD – The Ada Cougars overcame a 26-20 halftime deficit to clip Cache, 47-38, in a Class 4A boys regional basketball clash Friday night.
Three Ada players reached double figures in scoring, led by 16 from Kobe Burgess, in securing the victory and improving to 18-6 on the season. Burgess also sank a pair of 3-point shots.
Kylen Cooper added 14 points to the Cougar attack and Jaxson Robinson finished with 11, all of which came in the second half. Robinson also canned one trey.
Ada had a 13-6 lead after one quarter but saw Cache go on a 20-7 run through the second in building the six-point halftime lead. The Cougars then clamped down defensively with a 13-2 third quarter in taking control.
“We came out and got some stops. We really played well defensively in the third quarter,” said Ada head coach Garland Parks.
Tanner Gilliam chipped in four points, and Cody Smith tacked on two to round out the Cougar scoring.
A 14-10 scoring advantage by Ada in the fourth help keep Cache at bay.
The Cougars were scheduled to play in the regional finals on Monday night.

BLANCHARD – Kaley Watkins and Landyn Owens combined for over half of Ada’s points as the Lady Cougars rolled to a 40-25 victory over Cache in a Class 4A regional elimination clash on Friday.
Watkins nailed three 3-point shots and finished with 11 points, and Owens ended up with 10 total points as Ada kept its season alive and improved to 9-15.
Mikayla Emarthle contributed seven points for the Lady Cougars, who led 6-3 after the first quarter, and went on a 14-2 spurt to take a 20-5 halftime lead.
Cache went on a 17-3 run in the third quarter to slice the deficit to 23-22 heading into the fourth. But a 17-8 run through the fourth quarter by Ada clinched the win.
Sydney Bolin nailed a pair of treys and finished with 12 points to pace Cache.
Cache had two previous regular-season victories over Ada.
