ADA 205 30 — 10 9 0

DURANT 200 00 — 2 4 4

Chase Sanders and Alex Leach. John Heath, Jameson Joines (5) and Cole Rodriguez. WP-Sanders (5-5). LP-Heath. HR-Josh Balch (A); Cole Rodriguez (D). HL-Balch 3-4, 2 RS, Quaid Johns 2-3, 2 RBIs, Clint Bowker 2 RS, Sanders 2 RS (A).

NOTEWORTHY: The Cougars broke a 2-2 tie with a five-run outburst in the top of the third and added three more in the fifth to end the game via the run-rule. Josh Balch led off the inning with a solo home run and led the Cougars at the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring twice. Quaid Johns also had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Ada avenged a 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Lions back on April 4. Durant was coming off a win over Class 6A power Jenks this past weekend. The Lions two runs came courtesy of a two-run homer by Cole Rodriguez in the bottom of the first inning.

COACHES QUOTE: “It was a good win. They’re a good club. We played well. Chase really wasn’t feeling his best, but he battled. He competed and threw well for us. The kid hit the two-run homer in the first, but he hit a good pitch. We threw him a curve ball low and away and he just hit it out. Balch got our inning going leading off the third. He had a big day,” Ada head coach Ronny Johns.

Team Record: Ada 18-12.

Up Next: Carl Albert (No. 1 in Class 5A) at Ada Thursday, 4:30 p.m.
