ADA — East Central University head volleyball coach Dave Thorn has announced his 2010 volleyball schedule.

The Lady Tigers, who are embarking on their third season of varsity competition, will participate in three tournaments, play 14 Lone Star Conference matches and have 11 home dates for 2010.

ECU opens the season in the West Texas A&M Tournament on Sept. 3-4. The Lady Tigers also play in tournaments on Sept. 10-11 at Central Missouri and Oct. 1-2 at Arkansas Tech.

The home opener for ECU is on Sept. 6 against Arkansas Tech at 5 p.m.

Included on the schedule is a home match with defending NCAA Division II national runner-up West Texas A&M on Oct. 16.

“This schedule has a good mix of conference and other regional matchups, including Arkansas Tech, Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Fort Smith,” said Thorn. “West Texas is a perennial power. People from the Ada community need to come out and see some quality volleyball.”

ECU also has two home matches with conference foes Central Oklahoma on Sept. 21 and Southeastern Oklahoma State on Oct. 26. However, those contests will not count in the LSC team standings. The matches at SOSU (Sept. 28) and at UCO (Nov. 6) will be counted in the league standings.

“Our players have been working hard toward next season,” Thorn said. “We’ve done pretty well the last couple of years for a young program. But we’re looking to try and take the next step and play perennially in the conference tournament.”
