Garage sale benefits Presbyterian youth

ADA — Presbyterian Women are conducting their bi-annual garage sale on Saturday, Oct. 6.  Also, the Presbyterian Youth are conducting a holiday bazaar on that day in the same building.  All proceeds go to support missions and Presbyterian Youth.

The event takes place in the Westminster Fellowship Center building at First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Road.

Women's retreat set for Oct. 6

ADA — A free women's retreat and food drive, Joy for the Journey, will take place Oct. 6 at Pontotoc County Agri-plex Convention Center.

The event is hosted by Cross Cut Cowboy Church.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Session one is at 10 a.m., with Nannette Vaughan Baker as speaker. Ramona Taylor Hill is speaker for session two at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at noon for those attending the event.


Church offers lessons on coming wars

ADA — New Life Apostolic Church offers lessons on the coming wars in the Middle East and how God will keep his people safe. For more information, phone 436-1765.


Winter clothing for homeless collected

ADA — Mitchell Memorial Methodist Church, 221 W. Seventh, and Chief Cornerstone Ministries, Oklahoma City, are joining forces to collect coats, blankets, gloves, sweatshirts, stocking caps and socks for the homeless.

Methodist Church starts new program

ADA — First United Methodist Church, 129 W. 14th, has started a new fall program of activities called CONTACT. It includes a sermon on prayer led by senior pastor David L. Daniel on Sept. 23.

In addition, there will be a class titled “Building Better Moms” beginning the second Monday in October. The sessions are to be held from 9-10 a.m., led by Ginger Daniel at the church, and from 6:30-7:30 p.m., led by Cheryl McCortney at her home.

There is also a new Bible study based on the book Believing God by Beth Moore, to be led by Ginger Daniel. The class begins Oct. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Daniel is conducting a study titled "Path to Discipleship" at 6:30 p.m. Mondays.

Charges for books are as follows: Building Better Moms, $11; Believing God, $15; Path to Discipleship, $13.

Ahloso church hosts youth night

ADA — Youth Night Fall “Into” Service takes place at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at  Faith Baptist Church, located on Ahloso Road in Ada.

Speaker is Vinnie Baptiste. Full of Grace in Ada, pastored by Toney Buck, is leading worship.
