Matthew 25 distributes food early this month

Due to a conflict with the Thanksgiving holiday, The Matthew 25 Mission food program will be distributing food on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 8-11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 17th and Broadway. This ministry will resume its normal date in December.

 

Marty Brock to speak at Union Hill church revival 

UNION HILL — Union Hill Baptist Church on state Highway 3W hosts a revival Nov. 25-28. Marty Brock, evangelist, will be preaching at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Local church hosts Bible study on II Chronicles 7:14

ADA — New Life Apostolic Church serves refreshments and conducts a study on II Chronicles 7:14. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Revival set at Fitzhugh Baptist Church Nov. 11-16

FITZHUGH — Fitzhugh Baptist Church conducts a revival Nov. 11-16 with preaching by Gary Fielding and music by Dennis Neal. Sunday services are 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday services begin at 7 p.m.

 

Alternative Gift Market set Nov. 16 on ECU campus

ADA — Alternative Gift Market 10,000 Villages takes place Friday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at East Central University's North Lounge of the Student Union.

Ten Thousand Villages works with more than 130 artisan groups in more than 38 countries in Asia to provide fair trade jewelry, home decor and gifts. 

The event is sponsored by First Presbyterian Church in Ada. Proceeds go to the support of needs in communities around the world.

Ada Baptist Temple conducts new ministry

ADA — Jolly 60’s Luncheon is a new ministry at Ada Baptist Temple that is very successful. Held once a month, those that are in the 60ish plus age bracket meet and share a lunch and a time of fellowship together.

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the group will host a Thanksgiving dinner at the church at 12 noon. The meal is open to anyone in this age bracket.

12-Step Recovery Meeting set Tuesdays at church

ADA — Asbury United Methodist Church hosts The Way, a 12-step recovery meeting and Bible-based program for children, on Tuesdays. The evening begins at 6 p.m. and a meal is served at 7 p.m.

Veterans' Day celebrated  at First United Methodist

ADA — First United Methodist Church will be celebrating Veterans’ Day on Nov. 11-12.

There will be special worship services honoring veterans. Services will include patriotic music, the color guard and flag salute. A  special message by David Daniel, pastor, will be given at the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. worship.

The church is offering a complimentary luncheon meeting at 12 (noon) Nov. 12 to all veterans in the city and country.

Sacred Heart hosts Thanksgiving dinner

KONAWA — The annual Sacred Heart Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Sunday, Nov. 11. Serving times are 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Dinner will be served in Sacred Heart Catholic Church parish hall.

To reach the parish hall from Konawa, travel west on state Highway 39 to Sacred Heart Road and then 1 mile north.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 4-12. Children ages 3 years old and younger eat free. All take-out dinners are $8. Sorry, no phone orders will be taken.

Memorial singing slated by Johnson Chapel UMC

ALLEN — Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church hosts a memorial gospel singing at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 for Sue Walton-Brown. She was born June 10, 1950, and died Nov. 9, 2006.

The event is open to the public and all groups and singers. Supper will be served at 4:30 p.m.

The church is located five miles south of Allen on state Highway 48; exit at the church sign and travel three miles east and 1 mile south.

 

Presbyterian church senior youth hosts holiday bazaar

ADA — First Presbyterian Church Senior Youth conducts  their annual holiday bazaar Nov. 10 at Westminster Fellowship Hall, 301 E. Kings Road.

The bazaar takes place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Christmas gift ideas and decorations for all the holidays will be available.
