The Ada News

Ada —

First Christian Church of Ada has called a new minister. Kirk M. Jones and his wife, Jennifer, began their new ministry in Ada this month.

Kirk was born and raised in Bonham, Texas, while Jennifer is an Oklahoma girl from Oklahoma City. She also has family in the Purcell area.

Kirk and Jennifer have five children and five grandchildren.

Kirk went to college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark., and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education there.

Kirk was involved in coaching and teaching school until he surrendered to the gospel ministry in the summer of 1984. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth with a Master of Divinity degree in 1987. After graduation Kirk went to Tanzania, East Africa,  and served as a church developer and advisor until 1995.

Returning to the states in 1995, Kirk pastored churches in Texas and taught school.

Kirk and Jennifer are both PADI Scuba Diving Instructors and enjoy diving in the Florida Keys, the Caribbean as well as lake diving in Oklahoma and Texas. They both took a sabbatical a couple of years ago and spent some time in the Florida Keys running a dive shop. Kirk and Jennifer love the outdoors and all kinds of sports.

They have now returned home to Oklahoma to serve the First Christian Church in Ada located at 13th and Broadway and  to become a part of the Ada community.
