Ada —

Ada’s new city manager will earn about $10,000 more a year than his predecessor.

City Manager Cody Holcomb will make $120,000 a year, according to a copy of his contract obtained Thursday by the Ada News. Holcomb’s predecessor, former City Manager David Hathcoat, was earning approximately $110,000 annually when he resigned in February.

An attempt to reach Mayor Greg McCortney for comment Thursday was not immediately successful.

A former city engineer and assistant city manager, Holcomb served as interim city manager while the city searched for Hathcoat’s replacement. That search ended on Monday, when the Ada City Council hired Holcomb as the city’s new chief executive.

As the city manager, Holcomb is expected to devote his time to city affairs and raise the community’s profile,  according to the contract. He may not accept teaching or consulting offers for pay without first obtaining permission from the council, but he may serve on committees of the Oklahoma Municipal League and other groups if his service does not create a conflict of interest.
