Paddack seeks final term in state Senate

Ada —

After serving eight years in the Oklahoma Legislature, Sen. Susan Paddack is seeking another term in office.

A Democrat, Paddack was elected to the state Senate in 2004 and re-elected in 2008. She is currently seeking her third and final term because state law limits lawmakers to 12 years in office.

Paddack is competing against Republican challenger Fred Smith for the right to represent the 13th District, which includes Pontotoc County, Hughes County and parts of Garvin and Coal counties.

Paddack’s committee assignments include the full Appropriations Committee, the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the Education, Energy and Transportation committees. She has also served as chairwoman and vice chairwoman of the Education Committee, co-chairwoman of Education Appropriations and vice chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee.
