Congratulations go to the winners and participants in the 2006 Pontotoc County 4-H Showcase Performing Arts program, a program which teaches the youth of Pontotoc County cooperation, team building and helps them to develop self-confidence and communication skills.

Ada Senator Susan Paddack receives kudos for being appointed co-chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education. Paddack continues to impress Senate leaders in her first term in the Oklahoma State Senate.

Kudos go to East Central University for naming Dr. Diane R. Berty as vice president for student development. Dr. Berty is currently the dean of students at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., and will take over ECU’s student development responsibilities in January.

Congratulations go to East Central University’s director of information technology Frank Williams for overseeing ECU’s growing IT needs. Williams has been in information technology for 36 years and continues to evolve professionally with technology.

Valley View Regional Hospital recently announced a clever fundraiser in the form of a movie premiere. “The Ultimate Gift” a film based on the novel with the same name by Jim Stovall will be shown in January at the Pontotoc Technology Center.
