Ada High School band recently won several awards at the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association meeting and at a competition at St. Louis. In addition to those winnings, the group also made superior ratings in stage and sightreading, which earned an OSSAA sweepstakes award, which is equivalent to a state championship.

East Central University Tigers recently beat the Northeastern State Redmen in eight innings of a scheduled nine inning contest. ECU has now won six games in the last 10 outings.

Laramy Wilson, Calvin Future Farmers of America chapter, was recently selected as a state finalist in vegetable productions; Keisha Neff, Latta FFA chapter, was selected as a state finalist in agriscience; Nathan Fisher, Stratford FFA chapter, was selected as a state finalist in diversified horticulture placement; and Bo Schilling, Stratford FFA chapter, was selected as a state finalist in diversified livestock placement.The finalists received a plaque, cash award, and and an honors luncheon with their sponsors.

Kassi Coffey, Konawa FFA chapter, was recently selected to perform at the 80th Annual State FFA Convention as part of the 2006 talent program. Coffey is one of 66 FFA members selected to perform at the convention.

Bruce Cowart, Ada Wal-Mart SuperCenter, recently received a Benefactor Award from Valley View Regional Hospital Foundation.

Joe Landrum, Tanner Landrum, Dr. David Hubler and Kent Percival were first-place winners of the recent Doctor’s Day Golf Classic. The tournament, organized by Valley View Regional Hospital and the Valley View Regional Hospital Foundation, generated $15,000 for the Foundation.
