Latta senior Kolbie Brown recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Seminole State College. Brown is the son of Tammy and Sam Brown.

Dr. Tom Lanis, assistant professor of business administration at East Central University, was recently presented a check from the East Central University Foundation, Inc., for his service as the Boswell Professor for the 2005-06 academic year.

Melissa Pope, a sixth-grade student at Ada and the daughter of Daniel and Paula Pope, recently made semifinalst in the Ada Christian Home Educators 2006 National Geographic Bee. She will compete in the Oklahoma Geographic Bee at the University of Oklahoma, Norman.

The Ada Tree Board and the city of Ada were recently in Oklahoma City to receive a special Tree City USA honor. Ada has participated in the Tree City USA program for 12 years.

Byng 4-H was recently inducted into the Oklahoma 4-H Key Club at the 84th State 4-H Round-up. This is an honor extended only to top 4-H members.

Kris Earle was recently named Ada City School’s Teacher of the Year. Earle will now ener the state-wide competition for Oklahoma’s Teacher of the Year. She has been teaching for 20 years. Earle is married to Rob Earle and they have three children, Bethany, 15; Colin, 12; and Jamie, 8.
