Charles Golightly was recently named Ada High School principal. Golightly has been serving as Ada High assistant principal for 21 years and will succeed Bill Nelson, who retired at the end of the school year, as principal.

Clinical Social Worker for the Pontotoc County Health Department, Betty Weber, recently demanded much needed attention to a global epidemic, AIDS, and asked the community to be informed, protected, aware and most of all get tested.

Pontotoc County 4-H Shooting Club participated in the Southeast District Skeet and Trap Championship in Ada and won 19 of the 25 total skeet awards.

Lisa Shores, Pat Lee, Lisa Souza, Sharolette Petty and Theresa Sanders were recently named Byng Schools’ Teachers of the Year.
