Roff Tigers recently won the Class A Area Tournament basketball championship game held at Ada’s Cougar Activity Center.

A new indoor facility for East Central University’s soccer and softball teams was recently dedicated by ECU president Dr. Bill Cole.

Ada Rotary Club was recently awarded a certificate of appreciation for the club’s recent donations, by the Valley View Foundation, making the Rotary Club a member of Friends of the Foundation.

Trisha Herrin, Byng High School graduate, was among 13 Northern Oklahoma College athletes to be recognized during the NOC-Seminole State College basketball games, recently, at Tonkawa. Herrin is a manager of the NOC Lady Mavericks basketball team and the daughter of Fred and Karen Herrin. She played for the Lady Mavericks her freshman year.

Bright Star Ancient, Free and Acccepted Masons Lodge 113, Stonewall, recently conducted a fund-raising ham and beans supper benefiting Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department. A check for $7,270 was presented to the volunteer fire department.

Actor Wilford Brimley recently attended the annual Cowboy Crisis Fund (CCF) event. The CCF was originally started by Brimley and others in the area. This year’s event raised $50,000, in honor of this year’s recipient, Wyatt Fisher, who was diagnosed with cancer.

East Central University/Peoples Electric Cooperative Student of the Month for February is Ada High School senior Monica Williams. Williams is a member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Club, Leadership Class, Tantettes, Cougar News Network and the yearbook staff. She received a $250 one-time academic tuition waiver from ECU and a $50 Staples gift card from PEC.
