NORMAN — A petition for a protective order against University of Oklahoma redshirt sophomore running back Rodney Anderson has been filed in Cleveland County District Court. An emergency protective order against Anderson has been issued.

Oklahoma court records reveal the petition was filed by a female Monday. The woman is an undergraduate student at OU, according to university records. A hearing is scheduled to take place in regards to the petition on Dec. 18 in front of Special District Judge Jequita H. Napoli.

OU Athletics said they are aware of the situation and gathering information.

Anderson has played a key role in OU's offense during the back half of the season. Over the past seven games, he has gained 1,134 yards from scrimmage — rushing and receiving — and scored 14 touchdowns.

Anderson sustained back-to-back season-ending injuries in 2015 and 2016 but broke out with a 147-yard rushing performance at Kansas State on Oct. 21. He scored the game-winning with 7 seconds left in regulation, lifting OU to a 42-35 victory.

He was recently named an All-Big 12 second team selection by the league's coaches.

Updates on this story will be made when more information becomes available.
