McALESTER, Okla. — An investigation into a Christmas Day robbery of a McAlester gun shop revealed six guns were stolen.

McAlester Police Detective Ken Bethune told the News-Capital on Wednesday that the suspect — who was seen on security camera footage just before the robbery — stole three rifles and three semi-automatic pistols from McAlester Tactical Supply, LLC, early Monday morning.

Bethune also encouraged anyone with further information to contact the McAlester Police Department.

“We’ve got an inventory and we’re open to any and all leads,” Bethune said.

McAlester Tactical Supply, LLC, posted video of the suspected burglar, who was recorded around 3:45 a.m. Monday outside of the shop with a bag on his shoulder, shortly before breaking into the store, smashing display cases and taking the weapons.

Bethune said the suspect appears to be a white man, who was wearing a light-colored jacket and light-colored jeans at the time of the video.

He said the six missing guns include:

• one Colt 9mm semi-automatic rifle

• one Colt 5.56mm Expanse semi-automatic rifle

• one CMMG MK4 300 Blackout semi-automatic rifle

• two Browning Buckmark semi-automatic pistols

• one American Tactical Firefly 22-caliber semi-automatic pistol

Store owner Jason Regan told the News-Capital on Tuesday that he was able to celebrate Christmas with relatives later in the day, but getting a knock on the door early that morning changed his plans.

“We got a knock on the door and I thought, ‘oh my gosh, someone had a car wreck or a family member’s sick,’” Regan said. “But the officer said ‘no, no, no, someone broke into the store.'

“I wasn’t expecting that on Christmas morning,” he added.

The suspect first manipulated a camera to point away from his activities before breaking into the fenced lot on the north side shutting off the electricity.

Two storage buildings in the lot were pried open, but Regan said the suspect only removed a deer stand chair.

The suspect then broke into the main building’s front door and smashed a couple of display cases to take some guns.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the McAlester Police Department at 918-423-1212.
