John Johnston

CLARITA —

Services for John Royce Johnston, 75, of Clarita are at 2 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Breshears and Mr. Brian Keith Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Coal County.

Mr. Johnston died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1938, at Lula to Robert Henry and Edna Virgie Thompson Johnston. He attended Lula grade school and graduated from Tupelo High School. He moved to Clarita five years ago from Eufaula.

He married Margrett Angel on April 25, 1959, in Stonewall.

Mr. Johnston was a pumper in the oil field and also a farmer. He was a member of the Tupelo Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margrett Johnston, of the home; two sons, Royce Lee Johnston and wife, LaSondra, of Centrahoma, and Robert Issac Johnston of Eufaula; four grandchildren, Summer Lynn Dowling, Eufaula, Robert Shaun Johnston, Eufaula, Megan Ann Johnston, Texas City, Texas, and Jacob Levi Johnston, Centrahoma; and one great-grandchild, Mariah Brea Johnston, Kingston. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, R. H. and Virgie Johnston; a granddaughter, Mellissa Lee Johnston; two brothers, R. H. Johnston and Arthur Johnston; and a sister, Mary Sue Robertson.

Bearers will be Kerry Johnston, Darryl Johnston, Keith Johnston, Roger Johnston, Andy Dowling and Lynn Ross. Honorary bearer will be Roy Ross.
